Viewed wins Caulfield Cup

Master trainer Bart Cummings created history once more when he claimed a record seventh Caulfield Cup courtesy of Viewed's win this afternoon.
The reigning Melbourne Cup champion was perfectly ridden by Brad Rawiller in the $2.5million BMW-sponsored event, who notched his first win in the time-honoured feature. Viewed settled near last on the rails and while others in front of him were moved away from the inside to issue their challenges, Rawiller kept the six-year-old hard up on the rails.
Gaining a split when stablemate Allez Wonder, who had been behind the leader, hit the front on straightening before rolling off, Viewed sprinted brilliantly to beat stablemate Roman Emperor, with Vigor producing a big run for third.
Cummings had last won the Caulfield Cup back in 1991 with former champion, Lets Elope.
"Just a good horse, a few of them," Cummings replied when asked what it took to be so successful in the Cups.
"Brad (Rawiller) is a very good rider and took all the short cuts."
Rawiller joins his brother Nash as winners of the Caulfield Cup, with the latter having won the race with Elvstroem back in 2004.
It was Viewed's ninth career win from 32 starts and his first success since last year's Melbourne Cup.
