Lights On At Menangle

GOLDEN MILE TO HIGHLIGHT TABCORP PARK MENANGLE MEETING

THE much anticipated moment has finally arrived and another piece of New South Wales harness racing history will be achieved tomorrow night at Tabcorp Park Menangle.
Having originally aimed for a January launch, the NSW Harness Racing Club will achieve their objective of turning on the new state-of-the-art lighting system at the facility this Friday.

To help celebrate the momentous occasion, the club will conduct the Tabcorp $20,000 Golden Mile on the nine-race program.
The meeting is the first night fixture transferred from Harold Park to Menangle by the NSWHRC and is also another step in the club transferring its full-time operations to the outer suburbs of Sydney.
Of course, Tabcorp Park Menangle will become New South Wales' new home of harness racing once the iconic Harold Park site is sold.
Under an historic agreement with Tabcorp last July, the new Menangle circuit's naming rights were secured by the gaming and leisure giants for the next 15 years.
"This is another giant step forward for the Club in its transition to the Macarthur region," Chief Executive John Dumesny said.
"We now have the best track and lighting in Australasia and look forward to the other infrastructure developments on the sale of the Harold Park property."
The lighting system has been installed by world leaders Mussco Lighting, who was responsible for installing the lights at Harold Park and countless other sporting venues around the globe.
In a victory for the environment, Mussco's revolutionary system reduces energy consumption by up to 50 percent when compared to conventional systems, meaning less carbon emissions being released into the environment.
The 'Green Lighting System' also guarantees constant light and cuts spill by 50 percent.
The lighting system is powered by two generators. In further future planning for Tabcorp Park Menangle, the generators have sufficient excess capacity to power a proposed new race stalls building.
In addition to a fabulous nine-race program, there are a host of jackpots being carried over for the meeting.
More than $80,000 in First4, Quaddie and BIG6 jackpots will be up for grabs, while a $20,000 incentive for First4 players will be on offer for the opening event.
TO help celebrate the historic occasion when the lights will first be turned on at Menangle, Tabcorp is offering its customers free entry to the meeting.
Members of the TAB's new loyalty program, the Number 1 Club, will be able to gain free entry to the course, simply by showing their account card.
